Nicole Abene, Director
Nicole Abene was selected to be the Director of NYCELLI in 2022. She was a member of the NYCELLI class of 2020, and her environmental project focused on the accessibility for advocate participation in Federal Energy Regulatory Commission proceedings. In her role as Director, Nicole sets the curriculum and engages speakers, oversees the class, manages outreach and events, and coordinates with NYCELLI’s board.
In 2022, Nicole joined the Building Decarbonization Coalition as the Senior NY Legislative & Regulatory Manager. Before joining BDC, Nicole worked for the City of New York for nearly seven years – first as a Senior Legislative Attorney at the New York City Council, and then as the Deputy Director for Legislative Affairs at the NYC Mayor’s Office of Climate and Sustainability.
Nicole holds a bachelor’s degree in environmental studies from New York University, and a J.D. from Fordham University School of Law, where she was a Stein Scholar.
